My Grandpa.

My grandpa passed away yesterday.

I already miss him terribly. He was gregarious and funny and tender and stubborn and I'm having a hard time imagining life without my Papa Wayne in it.

But I'm also thankful. I'm thankful that he passed at home with family around him. I'm thankful that I got to spend time with him last month. I'm thankful that I got to tell him goodbye and how much I love him. I'm thankful that he loved my husband and my daughter. I'm thankful for all the stories I heard him tell. I'm thankful for all the times he teased me and made me laugh. I'm thankful for all the love and cuddles he freely gave me. I'm thankful for the example he was to his family. I'm thankful that I had him for 33 years.

I'm sorry doesn't cut it, but since I'm not there to give you a big hug- it'll have to do. Love you.

Grandparents sure are a wonderful gift, eh? Amazing you had Grandpa in your life for so many years...and how great he had the opportunity to know Emilia, and she him.

I am so, so sorry for your loss.

Hope all else is well with you three.

What a gift to have had him for 33 years. It sounds like he was a wonderful man and a joy to his family. He died surrounded by those he loved, no one can ask for more. In observing his eyes I see yours reflected.

I am so sorry for your loss and may his love carry you forth always.

Hi Traci,

I just read your post and I am so sorry for your loss... I know it sounds strange but I see a clear similarity between the first photo you posted of your papa and your sweet daughter's face. I don't know what it is but it just struck me. I think it's beautiful.

Best regards from the Netherlands,

Caroline

I feel the same way about being away from extended family (now that I am in Houston), but blessed at the same time for having had that time together w grandparents in NY.
